Original Red Dead Redemption Confirmed for PC: Temporary Change in Description Revealed the Information

The dream of playing RDR on PC is finally coming true

This is the second time when we saw the information about RDR coming to PC. For a short period, the page description on the official Sony PlayStation store was changed, confirming that the game is ready for launch on PC.

The first sentence clearly mentions Read Dead Redemption’s release for PC is inevitable

Looks like the classic Read Dead Redemption released for PS3 and Xbox 360 is about to be released for PC. This is something that has been in the talks since May when the launcher files from the Rockstar website revealed the information about the game coming to PC. Once again, there was a brief duration when the official game page on the PlayStation Store was updated with a new game description that added the following sentence:

Experience the epic western adventures that defined a generation – now on PC for the first time ever.

The game page was soon updated with this introduction removed from the Game and Legal Info part of the page as well as changes to the second paragraph. Thankfully, some readers quickly archived the information, and now it seems the launch for PC is certain.

The game will feature all the 2023 console version upgrades with the addition of numerous enhancements, including support for increased resolutions and framerates. RDR will also support multiple displays, spatial surround sound, and other accessories. The latter part is unclear but considering how many upgrades the game is getting for the PC, PC owners are going to enjoy the immersion more than console gamers.

Red Dead Redemption was released in 2010 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, quickly becoming a fan-favorite in no time. The game was later ported to PS4 and Switch in 2023 and was able to run on PlayStation 5 due to backward compatibility.

The only thing left was to port the game on PC since PC gamers already have their second installment in their library since 2019. The re-release introduced some additional perks such as support for 4K resolution natively even though the game originally played at 720p. The Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 consoles can play the game on higher resolutions and the PS4 Pro and PS5, particularly support AMD FSR 2 for smoother gameplay.

Modern Xbox consoles(Series S and X) on the other hand do enjoy the game on higher resolution and somewhat better graphics but unlike PS5, Xbox console users can’t play at 60 fps. On PC, the game may surpass the 60 fps mark easily since PS3 emulators can play the game at around 60 fps and higher already. However, there is no indication as to whether the game will see some drastic changes in the graphics since we haven’t heard about Rockstar remastering it.

Nonetheless, RDR fans will now be able to add the original game to their library soon and play with a keyboard and mouse for a completely different gaming experience.
